El Enemigo Syrah – Viognier 750ml (Pack of 6) – A Bold Blend of Power and Elegance
El Enemigo Syrah – Viognier is a bold and refined expression of Mendoza's winemaking potential, crafted by Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena. This unique red blend pays homage to the Northern Rhône style, where a small percentage of Viognier is co-fermented with Syrah to enhance aromatic complexity and texture. The grapes are sourced from high-altitude vineyards in Gualtallary, Uco Valley — a terroir known for its rocky soils, intense sunlight, and cool mountain nights, which contribute to the wine’s remarkable depth and tension.
Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts at a maximum temperature of 82°F (28°C) over 15 days, followed by a 20-day maceration period to extract structure and character. The wine is then aged for 7 months in 100-year-old foudres, allowing it to develop complexity while preserving the purity of fruit and terroir expression.
Deep ruby red in color with violet hues, the wine opens with intense aromas of blackberries, violets, and black pepper, complemented by floral and spicy notes. On the palate, it is velvety and structured, showcasing ripe dark fruits, hints of licorice, and a touch of smoke. The Viognier adds elegance and aromatic lift, while the Syrah brings concentration and savory complexity. The finish is long and persistent, with fine tannins and refreshing acidity.
Ideal with grilled meats, lamb chops, charcuterie, and aged cheeses, it also pairs beautifully with spicy cuisine, roasted vegetables, and rich stews. Both powerful and graceful, El Enemigo Syrah – Viognier is a masterful blend that reinterprets classic Old World techniques through the lens of Argentina’s high-altitude viticultur
