El Enemigo Bonarda "La Esperanza" – Authentic Character from San Martín, Mendoza
El Enemigo Bonarda Single Vineyard “La Esperanza” is a pure and expressive 100% Bonarda, crafted by Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena to honor the varietal’s rich Argentine heritage. Grown in San Martín, Mendoza, at an elevation of 2,132 ft (650 meters), the sandy soils of this eastern region allow for optimal ripening and concentration, delivering a wine that is both fresh and full of character.
Fermented with wild yeasts at a maximum temperature of 82°F (28°C) for 15 days, followed by 25 days of maceration, this Bonarda is aged for 12 months in 100-year-old foudres, preserving its vibrancy while enhancing complexity and texture.
In the glass, it shows a vivid dark red hue. The nose is lifted and aromatic, with notes of red currants, cherries, and fresh herbs, alongside a touch of white pepper. The palate is bright and juicy, with soft tannins, crisp acidity, and a lingering finish marked by crushed berries and a subtle mineral edge.
This Bonarda pairs beautifully with grilled chicken, stuffed bell peppers, eggplant parmigiana, and spiced lentil dishes. It also complements semi-hard cheeses, and shines with Argentine empanadas or wood-fired vegetable pizzas.
El Enemigo Bonarda “La Esperanza” is a vibrant, food-friendly wine that captures the soul of East Mendoza’s terroir and the artistry behind Argentina’s modern Bonarda renaissance
