Aperol is a bittersweet Italian liqueur with moderate bitter notes. It’s an aperitif of vibrant orange color named after the Italian word for Aperitif - Apero. It’s often confused with Campari, another famous Italian liqueur of similar color.

Here are some popular recipes that can be made with Aperol:

• Aperol Spritz: 3 parts sparkling wine (cava or prosecco), 2 parts Aperol and 1 part soda. Fill a wine glass or highball glass with ice. Pour 3 parts sparkling wine into the glass. Add 2 parts Aperol into the glass. Add 1 part soda into the glass. Gently stir the ingredients with a spoon. Garnish with an orange slice.

• Aperol Sour: 2 oz. Aperol, 1 oz. fresh lemon juice, 1/2 oz. simple syrup, egg white (optional). Shake all ingredients without ice for a few seconds to emulsify the egg white (if using). Add ice and shake vigorously for a few more seconds to chill and slightly dilute. Strain into a lowball glass filled with ice and garnish with an orange slice.
  

• Aperol Negroni: 1 oz. gin, 1 oz. Aperol, 1 oz. sweet red vermouth. Add all ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice and stir until well chilled (about 30 seconds). Strain into a lowball glass filled with ice and garnish with an orange slice.
